Renamed repository breaks website?

I've changed my repository's name, but now the bitbucket website is barely working anymore.

  • Source view - forever in loading state
  • Commits view - forever in loading state
  • Branches view - forever in loading state
  • Pull requests view - forever in loading state
  • Pipelines view does show pipelines, but the step logs are forever in loading state

Is there anything else i need to do to get the repository adopt it's new name? I've waited for a day thinking maybe the name needs to propagate but that didnt help.

Hey @MennoVink

Could you please check whether the issue is also reproducible in an incognito/private window or in a different web browser?

I’d like to confirm this because I suspect the problem might be related to your browser cache, and this test will help us verify that.

Please let me know the result of this test.

My apologies, i did not receive a notification about your replies and i missed them.

It started to work again today. Not sure what could be the reason, but if browser cache resets itself after multiple days that does indeed sound like a plausible explanation.

Hi @MennoVink

Yes most likely a browser caching issue then.

Simplified:
Your browser remembers which reply it got from certain requests it makes. In that case the browser does not always make the same request again and just uses the reply it stored.

Of course if those requests or replies contain the old repository name things will break.

For issues like this it is always good to perform a hard refresh on your page (crtl + shift +r) or to go to your browser settings and clear the cache.

Glad it was resolved!

Hi @MennoVink

This does not sound like normal behavior.

Try clearing your browser's cache.

If that does not work you can contact Atlassian Support and explain what happened.
