I would like to publish open source code on bitbucket. Is there a way to publish code that will be publicly available forever even if I personally go inactive? For example, I currently have this repository:
https://bitbucket.org/bioresearch0/residualsconservative/src/main/
But unfortunately I got this email saying it will be deleted if I am inactive, which I will be at some point in the future:
"
| We're reaching out with an important update about your Free Bitbucket workspace(s) bioresearch0. |
| As we shared in our November community post, our team is cleaning up unused Free Bitbucket workspaces. |
| What you need to know: |
| • | If your Free Bitbucket workspace is empty and doesn't contain repositories: |
|
| ◦ | It has been scheduled for deletion. No action is needed. |
|
| • | If your Free Bitbucket workspace contains repositories but hasn't been visited in the past 6 months: |
|
| ◦ | We'll deactivate these workspaces on January 15, 2026, making all content inaccessible. To keep your workspace, sign in before May 15, 2026, and click Reactivate workspace. After this date, any inactive workspaces will be permanently deleted, along with their content. |
|
| • | If your Free Bitbucket workspace contains repositories and has been actively used in the last 6 months: |
|
| ◦ | Your workspace is considered active and won't be affected by this cleanup. |
|
| To keep your workspace containing repositories, make sure to sign in and visit your workspace by May 15, 2026. |
| We appreciate your partnership and understanding. |
