I have two email addresses, A and B. I also have an Atlassian account but couldn't remember which email I'd used to sign up. So I tried to oAuth in with account A, but it turns out I had registered with B... so it creates a new account for me automatically for email A. I actually want my account to use email A, so I try and change the email from B to A, but alas it won't because I've just signed up and so the email is in use. But now I try deleting the newly created account associated with A and try and change the email again, but it's not working and still claims that the email is in use with another account. And then finally it tells me I've reached my daily limit.
So, two questions:
1) How can I make it so that it doesn't think an account is registered with A so I can change my account from B to A?
2) Why is it that oAuthing in with an email automatically creates an account? It really should say "no account exists for that email, would you like to register?" Otherwise I could keep making new accounts that I need to trash just because I can't remember whether I originally registered with email A or B. There needs to be some logical separation between logging in and registering.
Hopefully that all makes sense with A and B and all that. Thanks
Hi Matt, welcome to the Community!
Although the explanation with A and B is clear, we'll need to know which email addresses are you referring to specifically so we can help you with the changes . As a matter of security and to keep things private, I'll ask you not to share that publicly here in the Community. Instead, I've created a Support ticket for you and you'll receive a notification in your inbox (I've used the email address associated to this Community account).
If you need anything else, don't hesitate to let us know.
Have a nice weekend :)
Ana
