Moving from Bitbucket Server to Bitbucket cloud

R_Hilton July 19, 2018

I currently have a Bitbucket server and want to know which cloud package would best meet my needs and how to migrate my current repos to the cloud.

Currently we are a single developer company and I access the Bitbucket server to allow me to develop on multiple computers.

I seem to be having issues with Source Tree when I try to clone a remote repo, every time I get to the bottom of the list it adds additional existing repos at the bottom.

I am running Bitbucket Server version 5.12.0 and Source Tree 2.6.10.0.

I just want to be able to move to the cloud.

Hi Rod, welcome to the Community!

The only thing you need to have into consideration when creating a Bitbucket Cloud account is how many users need access to your repositories. Bitbucket is free for up to 5 users, if you need more than that you can upgrade to a Standard account, you can find our pricing at Bitbucket Cloud pricing.

Once that's done, you can import your repositories as explained at Import a repository. All the history remains, but this needs to be done one by one. You could also automate the import, for this you'd need to create your own script to leverage the BitBucket Cloud API to automate the import from existing repositories

I hope this information helps you, Rod!

Best regards,

Ana
