Hi everyone,

Can someone please share the best way to perform this kind of migration?
What are the step-by-step actions I should follow?
Do I need to rebuild the PostgreSQL indexes before the migration, or can it be done afterward?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @Igor Melenchuk

Please review the Migrating Bitbucket Data Center to another server KB article that contains all the relevant steps required to migrate Bitbucket from one server to another.

Note:

  • Before starting the migration, please make sure you have a consistent backup of the Bitbucket. Please review the Data Recovery and backups article for more details.
  • In the immediate aftermath of the migration, do not remove any data from your existing Centos Bitbucket server. In the event that users have problems with the new Bitbucket, having the data on the old Bitbucket server will enable you to promptly fall back.

If PostgreSQL is being migrated during this process and the OS's glibc version is being upgraded, then yes, rebuilding the DB index is necessary. I am providing a knowledge base article titled "Unique constraint violation in Postgres due to OS upgrade", which explains the potential issues that can arise if this step is not taken and offers possible workarounds.

Regards,
Aman
