May I divide a big project into subprojects?

I'm evaluating Jira Core with the intension to employ it in a complex business and software project. Complex in a way that different modules are developed at different locations.

From the project-management view I would like to setup a subproject for each location and bring it together under the umbrella of one major project.

How can I do that or does anyone know a workaround?

Elke

Hi Elke,

Jira Core does not support sub projects that roll up to a main project out of the box, you'll need an add-on application like Structure, Big Picture, or Portfolio, and Jira Software. (I don't believe these add-ons will work with Core, but I could be wrong.)

On a side note, of you are managing complex software projects you may want to look into Jira Software; it supports software development better than Core, without losing any of the Core functionality.  For more info on the differences you can visit this page: http://www.akeles.com/what-are-the-differences-between-jira-software-jira-service-desk-and-jira-core/

Hope this helps,
