How to Deploy the built code to the physical device?

Basavaraj B S October 24, 2023

I have three repositories containing code for different tasks, and I've set up Bitbucket Pipelines with a YAML file to build and scan the code. The resulting artifacts are saved within Bitbucket itself. Now, I'm faced with the challenge of deploying these scripts to a physical device, specifically a milling machine.

First question: Is it possible to accomplish this task?

If the answer is yes, I'd like to explore the best methods to achieve it and the steps involved in doing so.

Hi Basavaraj and welcome to the community!

Bitbucket Pipelines can deploy code to another server, as long as that server has a public IP address or domain name and it is accessible over the internet (or at least from the IPs that Pipelines environments use).

I am not familiar with milling machines, so, the way to deploy these scripts then from a server of yours to the milling machine is probably a question for the machine's manufacturer.

Deploying from Pipelines to a server is possible for example, via scp, rsync, ftp, or sftp. We have pipes that use each of these utilities:

It is also possible to connect to a server via SSH and execute a command or script on this server:

Kind regards,
Theodora
