How do I set un-editable defaults when creating a branch from JIRA

Ash December 14, 2018

At the moment, when I click on 'Create branch', I'm given the option to select:

  1. Which repository
  2. Source branch
  3. Branch name

Is there a setting somewhere that I can set so that (1) is based on project, (2) is constant, and (3) is based on JIRA issue id, and none of these editable?

Allowing the user ability to edit these opens up room for all sorts of errors. I want to avoid manual operations.

Bump. Need some kind of resolution on this. Because this is currently not possible, I’ve disabled the permission to view development info for my developers. Now when they view a Jira issue, they cannot even see the associated branch. This is far, far from ideal, but it’s the only option I have available.

Hi Ash!

That's not possible at the moment but there's a similar Feature request for that at BSERV-11154. My advice would be to leave a comment with your extended requests and a brief explanation of how that would be beneficial for you. After that, don't forget to vote for this feature :)

Best regards,

Ana

Hi @Ana Retamal

That feature request you have referred to is for a single specific issue not needed by me.

On a separate but related note, it turns out that I can create a branch from my personal JIRA account to my work Bitbucket repos. This seems like a major security flaw. Easily avoidable if (1) could be achieved.

Please advise if I should turn this into a feature request.
