I have a separate Bitbucket/Atlassian account associated with a cfa.harvard.edu email address that I used to be able to login to bitbucket.org with via the "Sign in with Google" button. But now when I try to do that, I get redirected to a HarvardKey page that says "User is not assigned to this application". I get redirected in the same way even if I follow the "Having trouble logging in?" link in an incognito browser session.
cfa.harvard.edu emails are associated with Google Workspace accounts, so I'm not sure why it's being directed to HarvardKey (aside from the obvious harvard.edu part of the domain). I'm now in a position where I have an API token expiring in a few days and I cannot login to the account to renew it!
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Hi @Ryan C_ ,
The "User is not assigned to this application" error typically occurs when your email domain is claimed by an Atlassian organization that has enforced SSO, but your specific account hasn't been granted access within their Identity Provider (IdP), such as Entra ID or HarvardKey.
Are you IT admin or can you maybe reach out to them? Whoever is admin for harvard.edu or cfa.harvard.edu domain. They might need to assign your account to the Atlassian Cloud application in their IdP or move your account to a non-enforced authentication policy. 👀

Thanks for the quick reply, Tobi!
You could also try:
- clearing browser sessions (cache and cookies); or try incognito mode/window
- password reset > Try setting a direct Atlassian password at bitbucket.org/account/password/reset/. If SSO is strictly enforced, this may still redirect you, but it is worth verifying if a local login is working
Unfortunately, neither of these worked. I've gone back to my IT organization to pursue the other avenues you suggested. I'll accept your answer once I get a resolution of some kind on that end.

Good luck @Ryan C_ 🤞
I'd appreciate it if you could share the resolution (or just general direction) once you sort this out.
