Getting 403 Client error while adding Jira to Bitbucket

Yuri Pimenov December 18, 2018

Following this instruction:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucket/connect-bitbucket-cloud-to-jira-software-cloud-814190686.html

I select Jira from apps. In a dialog I put my existing Jira URL and getting an error window similar to this:

```
Error
The add-on failed to be installed: Error calling installed at URL https://[myjira].atlassian.net/rest/aci/1.0/installation/jira-bitbucket-connector-plugin/install: 403 Client Error: for url: https://[myjira].atlassian.net/rest/aci/1.0/installation/jira-bitbucket-connector-plugin/install
```

Where https://[myjira].atlassian.net is my existing JIRA url. And btw calling this from browser https://[myjira].atlassian.net/rest/aci/1.0/installation/jira-bitbucket-connector-plugin/install gives 500.

@Yuri Pimenov Can you check if you have JIRA admin permission on your JIRA Software Cloud instance? Also check if you can navigate to Manage add-ons page in JIRA administration and view the list of all add-ons.

Yuri Pimenov December 19, 2018

Yes, I'm in "administrators" group, but I can't see anything like add-ons in JIRA. What permissions do I need for that?

@Yuri Pimenov On JIRA Cloud, you need to be in site-admin" group for that. Try to get this permission and then try re-creating the application links.

Yuri Pimenov December 19, 2018

I had site-admin already. These are my groups:Screenshot 2018-12-19 at 17.23.23.png

My be I did something wrong, but before I got "administrator" group I tried the same process with no success but at least without this error. Now I see some webhooks defined in bitbucket but they are read-only, I can't remove them. And when I repeat adding JIRA I get this error described in the topic. It's still there.

@Yuri Pimenov Since, without looking at your JIRA and Bitbucket instances, I will not be able to provide more help. So I suggest to please try the resolution from the answer suggested here by an Atlassian team member:

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Bitbucket-questions/Unable-to-connect-Bitbucket-Cloud-to-Jira-Cloud/qaq-p/190133

If that doesn't work, I suggest to please raise a support ticket with Atlassian https://support.atlassian.com to get help from them.

Thank you, I don't have any traces of DVCS even by searching by this word, so I'm referring to support. Thank you.

@Yuri Pimenov You can find DVCS account page for your JIRA Software Cloud instance at https://<your sub-domain-name>.atlassian.net/secure/admin/ConfigureDvcsOrganizations!default.jspa

It says "This page is only available to JIRA Software users. If you think you should be a JIRA Software user, you should ask your administrator to give you application access to JIRA Software."

That means I have to get another permission?

@Yuri Pimenov If you are actually using JIRA Software Cloud, you should be in the relevant license group like jira-software-users. I see in your previous screenshot that you are just a JIRA Core user, which makes me think that either you are only using JIRA Core Cloud or you are not being added to jira-software-users group that provides access to JIRA Software Cloud.

Yuri Pimenov December 19, 2018

Could be. Will try to understand what's the difference and may be our company needs too upgrade Jira license for that?

@Yuri Pimenov Please refer this page to understand the difference between 3 flavors of JIRA: JIRA Core, JIRA Software and JIRA Service Desk.

You will definitely need additional license for JIRA Software Cloud.
