Hi,

I am new to BitBucket and was trying to setup two-step verification. I went through the steps with no problems and got to the end where it said "You're almost ready to go!
Check your email to finish enabling two-step verification."

This email never comes through for some reason. I have checked all my email folders including the junk folder.

Any ideas?

Hi @Tony Tony

Welcome to Community…

As per our email logs, I see OTP verification emails were sent to you successfully at 2025-11-07 T07:42:02.384.

The Mail delivery logs shows the details as below :
Queued mail for delivery -> 250 2.1.5

It is possible that your Organisation's the Mail server might be filtering out the Emails sent by Atlassian.

Also you might have some inbox rules configured which might redirect the email to a different folder or auto-delete based on the filters. Can you please check if you have any inbox rules configured.

I'd suggest following our documentation for issues with not receiving emails - to clarify, you need access to any email inbox tied to your accounts to verify your account for login:

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Cheers!

This issue occurs when Bitbucket (Atlassian) fails to send the verification email needed to complete the two-step verification setup. Even though the message “Check your email to finish enabling two-step verification” appears, the email never arrives. This usually happens due to one of the following reasons: the Atlassian account email is not verified, the email domain is blocking Atlassian messages, or the 2FA setup is stuck in a partial state.

To resolve the issue, first confirm that your Atlassian account email is verified by going to [https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/email](https://id.atlassian.com/manage-profile/email). If it shows as “Unverified,” click **Resend verification email**, confirm your email, and then try enabling two-step verification again. If you’re using a corporate or school email domain, your company’s email security system might be blocking Atlassian notifications. In this case, ask your IT department to whitelist the senders `no-reply@atlassian.com` and `no-reply@notifications.atlassian.com`, and then retry the process.

If the verification still doesn’t arrive, visit your Bitbucket account’s two-step verification page at [https://bitbucket.org/account/settings/two-step-verification/](https://bitbucket.org/account/settings/two-step-verification/), disable two-step verification if it appears partially enabled, and restart the setup process from the beginning.

If none of these steps work, contact Atlassian Support directly at [https://support.atlassian.com/contact/](https://support.atlassian.com/contact/), choose **Bitbucket Cloud → Login and 2FA issues**, and explain that you are not receiving the verification email required to complete the setup. Mention your Atlassian account email and confirm that you’ve already checked all folders, including spam and junk.

As a workaround, if you need access urgently, you can temporarily disable any spam filters or email forwarding rules in your account, or test using a personal email address such as Gmail or Outlook to see if the confirmation message is received there. If it is, the issue is related to your organization’s email filtering.

In summary, the missing verification email usually happens because your Atlassian email is unverified, blocked by your domain, or caught in a partial 2FA setup. Verifying your email, whitelisting Atlassian senders, retrying the setup, or contacting Atlassian Support should resolve the problem.
