Deleted workspace

WorkingHardFail

I've been working on and off some projects in Bitbucket Cloud, with my last commits pushed on August 2025. I just read the email regarding the deactivation of unused workspaces (which mine is definitely not), and I want to make sure my work is not lost.

Unfortunately, I can't find the "Reactivate workspace" button anywhere. I also tried the admin.attlassian.com route, but there doesn't seem to be a workspace either. The email said the deactivation would occur on January 15, and I have until May 15 to fix the issue.

Am I the only one affected by this? Is there anything I'm missing?

Hey @WorkingHardFail

Welcome to the community.

Have you checked under all workspaces to see if you can see the list of workspaces that has been deactivated, or use the following link:

https://bitbucket.org/account/workspaces/

Let me know how it goes.

Thank you for your reply. I already tried, but unfortunately no workspace is shown; instead, I get the "Create a workspace" landing page.

Hey @WorkingHardFail

Thanks for the update. This appears to be related to the recent cleanup of inactive Free workspaces. You can find more details and the recovery steps in this community article:

Please follow the self-recovery steps outlined in the post to reactivate your workspace. If you encounter any issues or the workspace remains inactive, please provide a screenshot of what you see so I can investigate further.

Thanks,
Syahrul

Hi @Syahrul

Thank you for reaching out. I tried the steps (the same ones I described in my original post), and now I can see my workspace and repositories. Thanks for fixing that so quickly!

If I understand correctly, by making my workspace private I'll avoid similar issues in the future?

Thank you once again!

Hi @WorkingHardFail

I’m glad to hear that worked! To clarify how this process works: workspace deactivation is based on authenticated user activity rather than the privacy status (public or private) of your repositories.

A workspace is considered 'active' if there has been activity in the last 6 months, such as:

  • Git operations: Pushing or cloning repositories.
  • UI activity: Creating pull requests, branches, or updating settings.
  • API changes: Making updates via the Bitbucket API.

If there is no authenticated activity for a continuous 6-month period, the workspace may be flagged for deactivation again. To prevent this, simply ensure you or a team member performs one of the actions above at least once every six months.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,
Syahrul

I had the same problem. Today, I logged into my account and couldn’t find my repositories.
