Can't clone repository

Hitesh Thakkar March 26, 2019

I am trying to clone a repository from BitBucket cloud but having some issues. I have a "Managed account" which is tied with my organizational work account. When I try to clone a repository, it prompts for username and password. When I enter my work domain password, it gives me the following error. I can access repository in the BitBucket - https://bitbucket.org/dashboard/overview - without any issues. So not sure what's happening here and what I need to fix this issue. Thanks.

Hi Hitesh,

We'll need a bit more context to understand exactly why is this happening:

  1. Have you tried entering your email address instead of just your username?
  2. How are you trying to clone this repo? Are you using the command line directly? Or are you using any tool like Sourcetree?
  3. Does this happen with other repositories or only with this specific one?

Let us know!

Cloning with HTTPS was causing an issue. Now I am using SSH connection and it's been working fine.

Answer to your questions:

  1. Tried both
  2. Tried command line as well as sourcetree , both were giving the same error
  3. I only tried with one bitbucket repository, but I would say I would have the exact same problem with any other bitbucket repository using HTTPS connection.

It might be the fact that something on our work network might be preventing the HTTPS connection to bitbucket.
