Bitbucket PR AI Code Review: A Simple Solution Without Marketplace Apps or Webhooks

Mohamed Elshenawy Elsheikh
August 29, 2026

Like many developers working with Bitbucket, I've spent years watching AI code review happen effortlessly on GitHub while our pull requests on bitbucket.org and on Data Center stayed firmly on Overview, Diff, and a comment box.

I tried the stack that promised to close that gap. A few tools were useful, but all of them shared the same tax: Atlassian marketplace apps, Forge webhooks, workspace tokens pasted into a SaaS dashboard, and a review that is never quite the pull request I am actually looking at.

I kept asking: "Why isn't there a simple Bitbucket PR AI review that just works on the PR?"

So I built one.

ThinkReview started on GitLab, but Bitbucket Cloud and Bitbucket Data Center were the requests that kept coming after Azure DevOps. This AI code review extension lives right in the browser on bitbucket.org and on your self-hosted host. No marketplace app. No bot account. No second tab.

Why Bitbucket still needs a simpler PR review

A Bitbucket Copilot PR review should not mean standing up a Forge app, generating workspace tokens for hidden dashboards, waiting for a bot to spam the thread, or copying diffs into ChatGPT.

Instead, ThinkReview takes the simple path: install the extension, add a Repository: Read token (Cloud API token, or Data Center HTTP access token plus your custom domain), open the PR, and click AI Review.

What you get

  • Real review panel: Severity-ranked findings, file and line ranges, and quality scores.
  • Review agents: Specialized security or pentest checklists on the same PR.
  • Follow-up questions & code suggestions: Copy suggestions and post them yourself—ThinkReview is a copilot, not a noisy comment bot.
  • ThinkReview MCP: Paste any Bitbucket PR URL into Cursor, Claude Code, or Copilot via reviewurlcode to fetch diffs and structured reviews directly in your editor.

There is a free tier with daily review credits so you can try a real review before submitting a purchase order. Try ThinkReview on your next Bitbucket pull request.
