What is Atlassian's API plan for Bitbucket - specifically regarding missing functionality?

I'm aware that the current official response to this question is that "User groups can no longer be managed using the REST API", but what do they expect users to do?

Is there something I'm missing? Perhaps the functionality of groups can be replaced with something else, or maybe they are working on it in the background and in a month they will announce the missing features.

I have a project where I need to add & remove users and their groups, but I can't figure out how to do it with the 2.0 API, and the 1.0 API has been deprecated, and it seems like it no longer works. The documentation seems to say it should still work till the end of the year, but I get a 403 "Forbidden" response.

Hi! As you said, for now that option is not available in the 2.0 API, but there's a Feature request for that at https://bitbucket.org/site/master/issues/15196/removal-of-10-api. You can watch it to be notified of future updates, and also add a comment if there's something you'd like to add or if you have any questions.
