Bitbucket Cloud error "We couldn’t log you in"

Alex Benusovich
November 17, 2025

Im getting this error when I try to login to bitbucket cloud:

We couldn’t log you in

You may run into this issue when you use specific browsers or add-ons that hide the referer header for id.atlassian.com and other Atlassian sites. Check for these and then try logging in again.

I have tried different browsers/extension disables and still the same error. JIRA and confluence work fine, so this is just an issue with bitbucket.

Thanks,

Alex

edit: our admin sees this message that the account was automatically deactivated by bitbucket.

Not sure what happened, the login seems to be working now. I had to get an invite back into the project and it seems all data was restored.

Hi Alex Benusovich,

We are reaching out to inform you that some of your users workspace permissions were inadvertently revoked on November 16, 2025 when our Bitbucket team deleted an unused free workspace that they belonged to. You can learn more about our cleanup of unused workspaces here: Bitbucket cleanup of free unused workspaces: what you need to know.

This change removed users from active workspaces they previously had access to.

Our records indicate that you may have already restored access for your users. We recommend reviewing your workspace user settings to confirm that they are now accurate.

We apologize for any inconvenience this caused.
