Hi, I am supporting a Bitbucket Server version 4.6.1 on RedHat 7.4 and received the following error:
The remote authentication server is not available. Please try again later.
Our Bitbucket installation authenticates against Crowd 2.9.1 and after checking the Crowd logs I found no errors during the same time window so I believe the error relates to Bitbucket and not to Crowd. The error occurs for a number of users during a tight time window.
Restarting the Bitbucket Server does not solve the problem.
Please help us solve the error. Thanks.
Hi,
If you're unable to access Bitbucket Server because your Crowd server cannot be contacted you can use the Lockout Recovery Process(see https://confluence.atlassian.com/bitbucketserver/lockout-recovery-process-776640158.html) to re-gain access to Bitbucket Server so you can correct any Crowd configuration issues.

It means that Crowd cannot be reached by bitbucket at that time. This is more likely to be a network or crowd error than Bitbucket, as you know Bitbucket is actively trying to authenticate someone (i.e. working).
Do the bitbucket logs say there is a specific error in the connection, or is it just "not reachable"
