BitBucket to n8n webhook

Mauro Galafassi July 6, 2022

Hello

I have this problem.

I have created a webhook to send a new issue inserted in BitBucket to n8n automation tool.

But when I create a new issue, the event is not affected.

I turn on request history but nothing is registered.

Obviously the webhook status is active :-)

Hey @Mauro Galafassi

Welcome to the community!

May I know how did you create a new issue? Did you create the issue from the Jira cloud or the Bitbucket issue?

I ask because if you are creating a Jira issue, it won't trigger the issue created by Webhook because the Webhook is only for Bitbucket issue creation.

Bitbucket has its issue tracker, and the Webhook is only when the issue is created from these issue trackers.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Syahrul

Hey @Mauro Galafassi

Noted, would you be able to grab me a screenshot of the issue you created and the webhook config? I wish to see how your config and issue creation before we move forward.

Please edit the picture to remove any private information before sharing.

Hey @Mauro Galafassi

Thanks for the screenshot.

It looks like you are using the Jira issue and not the Bitbucket issue; hence when you create an issue, it does not trigger the Webhook because the Webhook only triggers Bitbucket issue creation.

I understand that this can be very confusing. Bitbucket used to have its own issue feature, and we are planning to deprecate this feature and move forward with the Jira issue.

However, it's not possible to trigger Webhook from a Jira issue creation in Bitbucket yet, but it's possible to configure this on the Jira side as the guide below:

If you wish to use the old Bitbucket issue, you can enable this as the following steps:

  1. Navigate to Bitbucket repository settings
  2. Look for the Issue tracker
  3. Select the Issue tracker you wish to create Public or Private
  4. Click Save

Now navigate back to the main page, and you should see the Issue tab on the left sidebar as follows:

You can create issues in it, and it should trigger the Webhook accordingly, but do note that this is not the same as the Jira issue.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Syahrul
