An Approve of PR Request will result in a merge of entire repo or only the changed/updated files?

Hi,

I have a repo with multiple branches, All the branch have some different files and some common files. If a developer needs to update a common file in all the branch he/she can make change in the new branch made form one of the existing branch, and can raise a PR request to all other branch?. Will it merge all the files and pollute the branch? or it will only merge the files that where changed/updated?

If a developer needs to update a common file that also needs to be updated in all the other branches, the recommended approach would be to:

• Create a branch with the change to the common file
• Merge that branch into master
• All the other branches should pull the latest version of master to get the change
