Dear all,

Previously I was using a google SSO to login to atlassian bitbucket acount and manage my repositories.

But yesterday i have changed to email based login and after the change, I lost my old workspace and all project data. Now I have lot all my Git code along with the repository and I dont have any local backup.

Does anyone know about this issue and please guide me on the solution.

Hi @Karthik Murugesan ,

I see that you opened a support ticket for this issue and the engineer working on your case assisted you with regaining access to your account.

I just wanted to mention here, for any other users who may come across your post with a similar issue: in Bitbucket Cloud, login is possible only with the primary email of the account.

Bitbucket Cloud uses Atlassian accounts (the ones at https://id.atlassian.com/) for authentication, and each Bitbucket account is linked with an Atlassian account. The email of that account is the primary one for Bitbucket.

This email is the one that should be used for login to Bitbucket. Logging in with an email that is an alias of a Bitbucket account, will prompt the user to create a new account, as logging in with an alias is not supported. Email aliases can be used for Git aliasing only.

If you have accidentally created a new account while attempting to log in with an email alias of a Bitbucket account, you can delete the extra account that was created accidentally, and then log in to your account using its primary email.

Kind regards,
Theodora
