I strongly object to AI on moral grounds, and do not want to use it. I see it's possible to opt-out of using the AI tools, but I'd like to know whether, if I submit code to a Bitbucket repo, that code is going to get used to train the AI?
Does anyone know? Is it possible to opt out of that?
Hello @Len
Referencing https://www.atlassian.com/software/bitbucket/features/ai
there isn't a specification to disable, rather enable the AI, but the logic is the same:
To activate AI in Bitbucket Cloud:
From your workspace, select Workspace settings.
Under Atlassian Integrations on the left sidebar, select AI.
Review the AI-specific terms.
Select the checkbox to agree with the AI-specific terms.
Select Activate.
Thank you, that's a very helpful starting point.
So, from a linked article, it looks like the actual AI features in Bitbucket in particular are limited to writing the text of pull requests.
Actually, a few more links leads me to https://www.atlassian.com/trust/atlassian-intelligence:
Are you using my inputs and outputs to train Atlassian apps and services?
No, Rovo does not use your inputs or outputs to train Atlassian apps and services. These features only use data about how you interact with our features, such as the people you work with and the size and type of attachments, and the feedback you opt to provide.
and
Does Atlassian send customer data to any LLM platform to train its services?
The data you submit and the responses you receive from Rovo are not used to fine-tune or improve any LLM models or services. For third-party hosted models, each data request is sent to the external provider individually over an SSL-encrypted service to process and send back to Atlassian.
That's pretty reassuring! It doesn't address Copilot-like slop machines directly, but that's pretty conclusive.

I do understand that you have concerns regarding the security of the data which is something that every company is concerned about. However, I only have the information that is provided by Atlassian and their articles. If you have some more in-depth questions, I would suggest raising a support ticket for Atlassian. I am sure they will provide more in-depth answers.

Oh, yeah, certainly. Your info was a great starting point for me to find those articles I linked, which answered my question.
