Bamboo plan doesn't pull correct branch of submodule

We have a Bamboo plan that pulls a BitBucket repo with a submodule.  We have the submodule configured with a branch.  When  we run the Bamboo plan, the correct branch of the submodule is not pulled.  Is this a known problem that is corrected in a later version?  We are on Bamboo 7.0.4
