Hi,
Any suggestion on how to get this done?
I would like to automate when someone enter Time Spent under Time tracking, take the same value and Open Harvest Time Track and update there as well. We already have Harvest connected to Jira.
Thanks in advance.
Wanda
Hi @Wanda Ng,
I'm currently tracking time in both Jira and Harvest and that duplication is no fun! Luckily, I noticed Harvest has a Jira integration that it sounds like you've found too.
You said you've already established the connection, so can you tell us more about what it isn't doing that you'd like it to? I've noticed (with a different time tracking vendor - not specifically Harvest) that time entered as part of a workflow transition was NOT sent to the time tracking app. You might need to disable that location/ability.
If Harvest's existing integration isn't super feature-rich, you might also be able to use middleware from a different provider. There are many but I'm thinking about services like Zapier. Also, both Harvest and Jira have APIs, so there may be a way to develop your own integration (although I'd try asking Harvest to extend theirs before you go down that route.). See: https://support.getharvest.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048180732-The-Harvest-API and https://developer.atlassian.com/.
For others with similar questions: there's some information about the capabilities from Harvest's website at: https://www.getharvest.com/integrations/jira and https://support.getharvest.com/hc/en-us/articles/360048180772-Jira-Track-time-from-Jira-issues
Additionally, the Atlassian Marketplace has this connector: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211628/harvest-time-tracking-official
Hope something in here gives you some ideas!

Hi Rachel,
Thank you for the feedback and support.
On a Jira issue, today, we manually enter time in Harvest using the connection. However, we are also logging time in Jira Worklog. I was trying to setup an Automation rule that if someone enter time in Worklog, it would take the same time entered int Harvest.
Part of the reason for this to easily review Jira issue estimate against spent in an epic.
Appreciate your help.
Cheers,
Wanda

Hi again @Wanda Ng ,
Thanks for the additional information. I found an integration that does what I think you're asking for via Zapier. Sorry I'm not able to test any of this; I don't own the Harvest application I'm using so there's no way I can experiment with it.
In the screenshot example: when a new time entry is created in Harvest, use Zapier to log that entry to Jira too. It doesn't look like you can do the reverse however. Meaning: You'll need to train your users to only log time using the Harvest connection, and NOT in the Jira item directly. Otherwise, you'll have a mis-match of time logs in the two applications.
Read more about this integration here: https://zapier.com/apps/harvest/integrations/jira-software-cloud
Happy 2026 to you!!
