Confluence Team Calendar Feels Neglected

Kyle Pace April 7, 2023

I just set up team calendars via confluence and I get the sense that this is a neglected offering that has not been updated in a long time. Some of the instructions are slightly outdated compared to the current interface, and the styling/customization leaves a lot to be desired.

Are there any plans to update this Confluence feature in the near future? Thanks! :)

Hi @Kyle Pace ,

I found a few documents were not up to the latest. I'm guessing because Cloud gets updated frequently. When I do see something, I use this section at the bottom of the documentation.

Got it @Benjamin thanks! I was more asking from a product team perspective, the service feels outdated and out of parity compared to the rest of the Confluence ecosystem. As a premium plan-only feature, I was curious if it was slated to be worked on in the near future? The only reason my team upgraded to premium was for this calendar - and a few of us were discussing the outdated appearance :)

100% agree with @Kyle Pace ,

I haven't promoted the calendar feature since migrating to cloud and attempting to set one up (last year). Giving it another change, the setup experience is tedious and extremely frustrating with things like Jira events simply not functioning as described in the user guides.

Additionally, basic functions like Delete a Jira event isn't available. Doco says:

"The event you're trying to edit is a JIRA event (sprint, version, or issue). If this is the case, the change to the JIRA item has to happen in JIRA."

I don't want to change the Jira version, it's set up properly. The calendar event doesn't reflect the version on the Jira project and I'd like it off the calendar... but there's no delete option.

What should be a fairly simple calendar build has taken 4.5 hours and is not satisfactory for use. We'll remove the calendar from the space and resort to other methods of displaying Jira project related info on pages.

As the Atlassian advocate and Jira admin for our firm's Premium Plan I will not promote this product for general use. Maybe with another few years of iteration we'll review.

Cheers,
