Can I group fields by category in ScriptRunner?

Hello,

We currently have way too many fields for our epics and US in Jira. What we would need is to group these fields so that visually the epic/US is not as overwhelming for the user.

For example: if we have 50 fields, we would like to have 5 categories with 10 custom fields each. Like this the user would only see 5 "categories", and if the user chooses to expand that category, they would be able to see the 10 custom fields in that category.

Would that be possible with Script Runner behaviours or any other Jira Cloud "add on"?

Another option would be to only show 10 fields in Status 1, and when the epic is moved to Status 2, show and extra 10 fields, and when the epic moves on to Status 3, then an extra 10 fields would appear... would that be possible?

Thanking you in advance.

Hi @Marina Shakirova

The collapsible category grouping isn't something ScriptRunner Behaviours can natively do on Jira Cloud, as the platform doesn't support that kind of accordion-style UI restructuring as far as i know. However your second idea is definitely doable in my opinion! Using ScriptRunner Behaviours, you can write a script that checks the current issue status and dynamically shows or hides specific fields using `setHidden(true/false)`, so users in Status 1 only see the first set of fields, then additional fields progressively appear as the epic moves through statuses. You'd just need to add all the fields to the screen first, and the behaviour handles the visibility logic from there.

Hope that helps!
