Hi everyone,
I am trying to test an AddOn to create a report , which will display epics and child issues. And if its possible to export this report in multiple format. Do you guys have any suggestions for which AddOn works best, and it would be great if we can integrate with Confluence somehow.
Thanks
Hi @JiraLearner,
welcome to the community!
If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I think you might like the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.
JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a range of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.
This is how it looks in action:
This is really just one of a virtually endless number of possible views and reports; you can also view and edit any other issue fields, configure different conditional formatting rules and sum-up styles, etc. etc.
Of course, you can also export your data to CSV or XSLX (Excel or Google Sheets) in just 2 clicks.
Any questions just let me know,
Best,
Hannes

Hi @JiraLearner
the easiest would be to export to XSLX first, and then export/print to PDF from e.g. Excel or Google Sheets.
Best,
Hannes

@Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira What if we integrate this JXL table with confluence, and then from confluence we export to PDF ?

To create reports based on Epics and their child issues in Jira, there are several Jira apps (AddOns) available on the Atlassian Marketplace that can help you create detailed reports, export them in multiple formats, and even integrate with Confluence. Here are some of the best options:
I think these are the best for powerful analytics and Confluence integration, eazyBI Reports and Charts or Structure for Jira are excellent choices if you want robust functionality, flexibility, and integration with Confluence.
All these apps are available for Jira Cloud, and some are also available for Jira Data Center/Server. You can explore them on the Atlassian Marketplace and test them with free trials to see which one best suits your needs.

@Eduardo Thanks for the suggestion and details. Would you recommend BETTER PDF Automation Addon to schedule reports ? I am definitely going to dig eazyBI and Structure for Jira to play around . Which one is your favorite ?

Hi @Jiralearner and welcome to the Community!
Another worthwhile solution to look at is our app Report Builder, which allows you to freely create pivot table based reports with any metric you need.
We just released a template for team workload analysis using this method, but that's just one thing you can do with it.
And yes, it supports PDF export. 😉
If you're interested, I'm glad to tell you more about it. Just let me know.

I will double check later today for sure. Are we able to create a report based on epics, which will drilldown from Epics > stories > tasks > subtasks
Is there a way to schedule the automation on PDF Export ?

@Jiralearner The hierarchy you are referring to is currently not possible with our report editor. However, we have a coding framework built in that lets you use HTML, CSS and JavaScript to create any report in any design you like. We can help you build exactly what you need if nothing else fits the specific layout you are looking for. Please let me know here or reach out to our support team if this interests you (select the bottom option): https://actonic.atlassian.net/servicedesk/customer/portal/8/group/-1

Hi @JiraLearner
Welcome to the Atlassian community !!
Pls take a look at
The app shows your issue hierarchy in a tree view created for Epics and child issues. The Issues in the tree can be in multiple projects and the app will pull out each one of them and show you a structured hierarchy. The app has multiple other features which are very useful in project tracking and management.
(Disclaimer: I work for RVS, the vendor for this app)

@Rahul_RVS thanks for the recommendation. Is it possible to integrate with confluence and export to PDF ?

@JiraLearner It sounds like exporting to PDF is crucial for you. If a reporting apps suggested provides stadard gadgets that can be added to standard Jira dashboards, then you can export Jira dashboard to PDF with our Better PDF Exporter! (export samples)

Hi @JiraLearner,
An add-on that you should definitely try is our Great Gadgets app. This app offers many macros / gadgets that allow you to create report pages in Confluence or dashboards in Jira for tracking epics based on child issues. Here are some examples:
Work Breakdown Structure macro/gadget - displays the issues from a filter/JQL by their hierarchy Epic > Story > Sub-Tasks along with their status.
Pivot Table & Pivot Chart macro/gadget - can display the progress of the epics based on child issues by issue count, sum of story points, percentage completion in form of multi-dimensional tables, heat-map tables, or charts of various types.
Epic Burndown Burnup Chart - can be diplayed by using the Release Burndown Burnup Chart gadget / macro offered by the same app.

Hi JiraLearner,
For the Pivot Table & Pivot Chart gadget to be available, you have to install Great Gadgets app/plugin in your Jira Cloud instance. Once the app is installed, the gadget will become available in the gadgets directory: go to Dashboards > Create or edit an existing dashboard > Add gadget > search for Pivot Table.
The plugin is also available for Confluence Cloud.

Hi JiraLearner,
Make sure that you have the latest app version installed. Are you on Data Center or Cloud? Jira or Confluence?

Hi @JiraLearner
My company provides an app called Dashboard Hub for Confluence, which includes a Progress Tracker gadget to display and track the progress your epics in your dashboards. Additionally, you can create Jira custom charts to track this, as for example, a table adding Epics and Issues. Specific metrics and the entire dashboard can be exported to CSV, XLSX, and PNG.
They can also be embedded into your Confluence pages.
Hope it helps!
