How would you use an API for Jira work item history data?

We’re exploring an API for Issue History for Jira (Work Item History) app and would love to understand whether it would be useful for teams working with reporting, analytics, and BI tools.

Today, many teams need more than just the current state of a Jira work items. They also want to analyze how work items changed over time. For example:

• status transitions
• assignee history
• field changes
• historical values of custom fields

Right now, this often means exporting data manually and rebuilding reports outside Jira.

We’re considering an API that would make it easier to retrieve work item history data and send it directly to BI or reporting tools.

We’d really like to understand how valuable this would be in real workflows.
