What would make a browser-first diagram editor genuinely useful to you?

We've shared diagram.now here a couple of times now, so this post is less an introduction and more a genuine ask for your input.

For anyone who hasn't seen it: diagram.now is a free, browser-based diagram editor — no sign-up, nothing to install. You open the page and start drawing: flowcharts, UML, ERDs, BPMN, cloud & architecture diagrams, mind maps. There's also a Confluence app for teams that keep their docs there, but the browser version is meant to stand on its own.

What we'd genuinely like your feedback on:

  1. Which diagram types do you reach for most — and is anything missing or awkward in a browser editor?
  2. How do you get diagrams into Confluence (or your docs) today, and where does that flow break down?
  3. What would make a browser-first editor actually useful in your day-to-day — versus a desktop app or a heavier tool?

If you want to poke at it before answering: https://diagram.now (a couple of jumping-off points: free UML editor, free ERD editor).

We read every reply — thank you for any thoughts, even the blunt ones.

This is an interesting discussion. For me, a browser-first diagram editor becomes truly useful when it combines ease of use, real-time collaboration, and seamless integration with existing workflows. Looking forward to seeing how these ideas evolve and what features the community values most.

Thanks, Darcy — that's a great way to put it. Ease of use, collaboration, and fitting into the tools teams already use are exactly what we're aiming for, and the collaboration point is noted.

To build on that: one thing we're still trying to figure out is which starter templates would make diagram.now genuinely useful for Confluence teams out of the box — for example architecture decision records (ADRs), incident runbooks, ERDs, BPMN approval flows, cloud architecture, or product wireframes. If you (or anyone reading this) already keep diagrams in Confluence, which of those would save your team the most time to have ready as a starting point?
