Unable to check item state: news-featured issue resolved in News Board and News Board Lite apps

If you see the following error while trying to feature pages or blogpost using News Board or News Board Lite apps:

Unable to check item state: news-featured

There was a problem communicating with the server. Please refresh the page and try again.

This error has now been resolved. You do not need to update the app, but you may need to do a hard refresh, which will clear the browser cache, ensuring it loads the latest version of the News Board / News Board Lite code.

Here’s how to perform a hard refresh in various browsers:

• Google Chrome: Press Ctrl + F5 or Shift + F5 on Windows, or Command + Shift + R on Mac
• Firefox: Press Ctrl + F5 on Windows, or Command + Shift + R on Mac.
• Microsoft Edge: Press Ctrl + F5 on Windows, or Command + Shift + R on Mac.
• Safari: Press Command + Option + E to empty the cache, then refresh the page. 

Unfortunately, it appears that Atlassian depreciated a set of Connect JavaScript API methods earlier that communicated in their change log. The change was not expected to take place until February next year. As a result, a hot fix was required.
