Struggling to keep up with Atlassian Cloud changes?

We’ve always found it frustrating how hard it is to keep track of what’s actually changing across Atlassian Cloud products. The official changelog is comprehensive, but not exactly easy to read.

Introducing Cloud Updates

SCR-20250526-sdnn.png

Since changelogs are kind of our thing, we decided to build a free tool to make it easier to stay up-to-date with changes in Atlassian Cloud products.

Here’s what it does:

🆕 Changelog for what’s new this week

📊 Table view for all updates at a glance

🔍 Search and filter by product or status

📥 Export to CSV or PDF

📰 RSS feed to stay up to date

What's next

We built this because we needed it ourselves, now we’d love to hear what you think.

  • Is it useful?

  • What would make it better?

  • Anything unclear or missing?

We’ve already received some great suggestions, and we’re excited to keep improving it if the community finds it valuable.

Your feedback really helps shape what comes next!

This is an incredibly useful tool! Keeping track of changes across Atlassian Cloud products can be overwhelming, and this solution makes it so much easier to stay updated in an organized way.

The search and filter options, along with the ability to export to CSV or PDF, are fantastic additions. One improvement that might enhance the user experience further is an Expand and Collapse feature—this could make browsing through updates more intuitive by allowing users to quickly focus on the most relevant details while keeping the interface clean and accessible.

Excited to see how this evolves! Keep up the great work.

Hi @Jens Schumacher - Released_so . Thanks for building this helpful tool!

I'd like to see:

  1. Filter by status in "New this week" tab
    1. "Coming Soon", "Rolling Out", and "New This Week" aren't always used consistently
  2. View and filter by date first announced (could be release week rather than a specific date)
    1. It'd be helpful to know when the release was first mentioned, especially when you're trying to get caught up after a couple weeks

Wow. I've been wanting this for YEARS!!! Now, based on the URL it feels like this project is slightly rogue. Is there a reason it does not share the Atlassian URL?

Thank you for the suggestion @Sami Shaik. Did you try out the "All changes" view? It essentially gives you that collapsed style view in a table format.

Easy to scan and quick to open details and move to the next announcement with keyboard shortcut support.

Use the status filters to only see new or upcoming changes.

@Sean Wood I wouldn't call it "rogue" but it's not an official Atlassian tool. It was built by community members, because just like you, we've been waiting for a better solution for a while.

Originally it was hosted under "atlassian.released.so", but turns out that using that URL violates Atlassian's brand guidelines.

@Josh would you also want to see improvements that are "rolling out" under "New this week" or what is the intention behind filtering by status on that view?

The idea was to make it easy to find out what's new and coming up, without having to use a filter. But we might be missing a use-case here that we haven't thought about.

Regarding "Date first announced". I'm trying to see whether we can get the roll-out dates into the app as well. Would that be close to what you are after with this request?

Unfortunately they are not available on the public changelog and we'll have to merge them in via the APIs that provide the information to the changelogs within the app. That's why this one takes a little longer.

Hi Jens,

Thanks for this! I'm wondering:

- Is it also possible to show/filter the bundled releases as Atlassian offers them on the 2nd Tuesday of the month?

- What is your experience regarding the 'coming soon' label? I have always found it to be not really dependable or at least applicable to what I was seeing in my instance(s).

- Often, the release notes are somewhat vague. What would really help, is that (where needed) extra explanation is added on how a specific feature would look like/how to specifically enable/use it. Especially for some of the AI capabilities that are being released for JSM projects, it's always a guessing game on how to specifically enable and test it before communicating to the end users.

Hi @Hans Polder _Devoteam_ ,

Featuring the bundled release notes is something we want to explore. The data for those is a little but harder to get, but with the help of @Darryl Lee we've got an idea of how we might be able to make it work.

Another piece of data we would like to show is roll-out timeframes.

I view coming soon mostly as a heads up, with no expectations about specific roll-out dates yet.

As for additional information, unfortunately we are limited to what Atlassian provides in their changelogs. We do not have access to screenshots or more details unfortunately.

Hey Jens,

Thanks for the quick reply! I will be looking forward to those bundled release-filters, for sure! I already saw your previous answer on the time frames, which would indeed also be a good addition.

With regards to my initial question about screenshots/steps - I meant it more as a point of 'this could add value as a manual addition to the release notes that are already shown from the Atlassian data'. I imagine a LOT of Jira admins that are prepping their users for upcoming releases (especially in the bundled mode) are currently doing all these checks themselves. I know I am, at least. So, although adding this information yourself might be out of scope for your app, maybe adding a mechanism for replying to individual release items would make it even more approachable and re-usable across Jira Admins and users alike. So, if one person has figured out how to deal with a specific release item (how to enable it, how to test it), if Atlassian hasn't made that clear enough themselves, that person could add it. I see a lot of opportunities for gamification or recognition in a further future, if it would be successful!

Thanks for the clarification @Hans Polder _Devoteam_ .

For this initial release, we are mostly focused on providing the available data in a better and easier to consume format.

However, if we get enough traction and there is demand for collaboration features the way you described above, we will be more than happy to explore those.

Very nice, thank you!

Wish item:  A couple of years ago, I asked Atlassian if they could add a new status called "Rollout Complete" (or something similar).  Essentially, they often have pending changes that remain in the "Rolling Out" status for a while and then disappear.  There is no announcement when the rollout is finished.

For non-Premium users, the problem is that when the pending change is first announced (i.e., "New This Week"), it cannot be tested.  It hasn't been deployed to most sites yet.  And there are too many "Rolling Out" changes to re-review them every week.  So, I think it would be great to have a final notice when a change has been fully rolled out, and everyone should have it now.  (i.e., "Rollout Complete")

That might be something your tool could do by watching for when a "Rolling Out" change drops out of the weekly release notes.. Assuming others find value in it as well.

Hi @Jens Schumacher - Released_so .

"Date first announced" could potentially alleviate the need to filter by status.

I understand and appreciate the limitations you're running into here with this data not being readily available. Ideally, that would be tracked and visible on the Atlassian side as posts are created. There could also be a better process on their end for ensuring the information is still current and relevant; lots of stuff appears to hang there for longer than is needed.

This is absolutely fantastic and i am amazed at how quickly you responded to Feedback! Loving v1.x and excited for what's to come.

Just read through all the recent Updates after 7 weeks of holiday and saved so much time by using your page rather than having 7 Tabs open and filtering them one by one.

Thank you!

I was thinking just a few weeks back, that someone must be working on something like this.

Atlassian Admins waste so much time providing proper release notes to the users. Even the Release Management in Atlassian Admin - Apps is not reliable, we have been really bugging Atlassian about it every 4 weeks for the past 10 months, as is is either incomplete, or missing things which were released

Thank you @Jens Schumacher - Released_so  for your work here!

We are very interested to see how this gets accepted and what is to come!

For exact rollout dates or Bundled-Release scheduled it may be really tricky, as this depends on customer, DR-zone, Subscription plan etc....

Again, Thank you!!

@s_weber unfortunately I can not do much about reliability as we are limited to the data that Atlassian publishes.

I still have to look into the bundled release notes more. But I believe what we can offer is to show what will be in the bundle, not the exact times when the bundle will roll out.
