Smart Checklist for Jira is now compatible with Atlassian Government Cloud

image (13).png

Smart Checklist for Jira has reached a new security and compliance milestone: it is now compatible with Atlassian Government Cloud, Atlassian’s secure cloud offering for U.S. government agencies and their partners.

Atlassian Government Cloud provides Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence in a dedicated, FedRAMP Moderate - authorized environment, built for teams that handle sensitive government data and must meet strict federal security standards.

Smart Checklist has been validated to operate inside this environment, so public-sector and regulated teams can bring structured checklists, runbooks, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) into their Government Cloud Jira sites.

Quick recap: What is Atlassian Government Cloud?

Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC) is a secure cloud environment designed for U.S. government teams and approved partners. It gives agencies access to Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence on infrastructure that meets FedRAMP Moderate requirements.

A few important characteristics:

  • FedRAMP Moderate authorization – AGC achieved Agency Authority to Operate (ATO) and FedRAMP Moderate Authorization, confirming it meets standardized federal security and continuous monitoring requirements.

  • Separate cloud environment – Government Cloud runs in a dedicated environment, primarily in AWS us-east-1 with redundancy in us-west-2. It is kept separate from commercial Atlassian Cloud through a cross-partition gateway and strict network controls.

  • US government eligibility – It is available to U.S. government agencies and organizations that work with the U.S. government and use the environment for government-related work.

On top of the core products, Atlassian is bringing more capabilities and Marketplace apps into Government Cloud.

Smart Checklist joins the Atlassian Government Cloud ecosystem

Smart Checklist for Jira is now listed as Government Cloud–compatible, meaning it can be installed in Atlassian Government Cloud Jira instances through the government app provisioning process.

This validation confirms that:

  • Smart Checklist operates correctly inside the Government Cloud environment

  • It integrates with Jira in a way that respects Government Cloud’s security boundaries

This milestone builds on our broader security and compliance investments, and extends Smart Checklist to a new segment of public-sector and regulated customers who rely on Atlassian Government Cloud for mission-critical work.

Important note: Atlassian Government Cloud itself is FedRAMP Moderate authorized. Marketplace apps operating in that environment are not separately FedRAMP-authorized and are not required to store data exclusively in the U.S. Agencies should evaluate each app against their own policies and risk requirements.

What this means for public-sector and regulated teams

If your organization is on Atlassian Government Cloud, you can now use Smart Checklist for Jira to:

  • Standardize complex procedures as checklists inside Jira issues

  • Replace scattered documents and manual notes with repeatable, auditable steps

  • Keep operational and compliance work close to your existing Jira workflows

For teams that already use Smart Checklist on commercial Atlassian Cloud, this alignment makes it easier to extend the same practices to Government Cloud deployments.

From a Government Cloud perspective, Smart Checklist works inside your Jira Government Cloud environment and follows Atlassian’s model for app provisioning and updates. App installation and change management are handled in coordination with Atlassian or your public-sector partner.

How to enable Smart Checklist on Atlassian Government Cloud

If you are an Atlassian Government Cloud customer:

  1. Check availability on the Marketplace

    • Open the Smart Checklist for Jira listing on Atlassian Marketplace.

    • Use the “View as” → “Government Cloud” option to confirm Government Cloud compatibility.

  2. Request installation for your Government Cloud site

    • Contact your Atlassian Government Cloud representative, Carahsoft contact, or your usual Atlassian partner.

    • Ask to provision Smart Checklist for Jira for your Government Cloud Jira instance.

  3. Roll out to your teams

    • Start with a few critical workflows (for example, change requests or ATO readiness).

    • Create standard checklists for those processes.

    • Iterate based on feedback from security, compliance, and operations teams.

If your agency requires an internal security or risk assessment before adopting a new Marketplace app, our team can support that process by sharing documentation about Smart Checklist’s architecture and data flows.

Explore Smart Checklist on the Atlassian Marketplace and, if you’re on Atlassian Government Cloud, contact your Atlassian representative or partner to have it provisioned for your organization.
