New in Smart Attachments: Category Scheme Change

Hi everyone! 👋

For those who might be new to our app – Smart Attachments for Jira helps teams organize, categorize, and manage project attachments in a structured way. Instead of having all your files stored chaotically in issues, you can apply attachment labels to keep everything clear, searchable, and consistent across projects.

And now, we’ve made it even more flexible!

You can now switch between category schemes in your projects. This means you don’t have to stay locked into one setup forever – your attachment organization can grow and change alongside your processes.

How this helps:

  • New users: If you’re just getting started, you can experiment with different schemes until you find the best fit for your workflow.
  • Existing users: If your team’s structure has changed, you can adjust categories without recreating everything from scratch.

Some real-life examples:

  • Evolving needs within a shared scheme: A project has been using the default scheme shared by multiple teams, but now requires an extra category unique to their work. By switching to a new scheme, they can add it without losing all the existing categories already applied to attachments.
  • Cross-team standardization: Departments want to use the same scheme across multiple projects so that everyone works with identical categories.
  • Temporary focus: For a short-term initiative (like an audit or pilot project), a team switches to a simplified scheme tailored just for that purpose, then returns to their usual setup afterward.

Step-by-step guidance on managing category schemes is available in our documentation.

We’d love to hear from Smart Attachments users! Have you considered other cases where a category scheme change could be useful?

Cheers,
