Hey Atlassian Community 👋
We’ve got some exciting news to share: Configuration Manager for Jira (CMJ) now supports Automation Rules in Data Center environments! This was one of the most requested enhancements—and it's finally here.
CMJ admins can now include Jira automation rules in snapshots and deployments:
When creating a snapshot, just check the “Include Automation Rules” box.
During deployment, include or exclude Automation Rules under Advanced Options.
From triggers to conditions and actions, automation rules now migrate with your configurations—just like workflows, schemes, and custom fields.
This is a major win for Jira administrators managing complex environments or handling enterprise migrations and change management. It eliminates one of the most time-consuming manual steps and helps ensure consistency and accuracy at scale.
Configuration Manager for Jira (CMJ) is the go-to solution for managing configuration complexity in Jira. Whether you're deploying daily changes or performing a full-site migration, CMJ gives admins full control, visibility, and integrity across their Jira instance.
Built to scale with enterprises
Move large, complex data sets with confidence using built-in safeguards to prevent unintended changes.
Unparalleled configuration insight
Search, analyze, and clean up configurations with full visibility into dependencies and usage.
Pre-deployment analysis
Review what’s changing before deploying. Customize and correct mappings with ease.
Protect system integrity
CMJ helps you catch issues early with clear alerts and smart suggestions—so you can deploy safely.
Previously, automation rules had to be manually rebuilt when moving projects or testing configurations in sandbox environments. This was error-prone, slowed down release cycles, and disrupted team workflows.
With this new support, CMJ lets you:
Move automation rules from sandbox to production
Include them in Data Center-to-Data Center (DC to DC) project migrations
Save time and reduce migration risk
This feature makes CMJ even more valuable for system admins, enterprise Jira teams, and partners managing client migrations—offering cleaner rollouts, faster deployments, and fewer surprises.
