One question that came up during a recent discussion with SAP project teams was:
How easy is it to trace a business requirement from day one through to deployment?
In many SAP implementations, requirements, Fit/Gap analysis, development, testing, and defect resolution are managed across multiple tools. As the project grows, maintaining complete traceability becomes increasingly difficult.
Some common challenges include:
✅ Understanding the status of a business requirement
✅ Linking requirements to development work and testing
✅ Tracking WRICEF objects throughout the delivery lifecycle
✅ Providing accurate progress updates to stakeholders
When information is scattered across different systems, project teams often spend more time finding answers than moving the project forward.
I'm curious to hear from the community:
How does your team maintain end-to-end traceability during SAP implementations?
Disclosure: I work with the team behind JASAP, an Atlassian Marketplace app built to support SAP project execution in Jira. One of the goals behind JASAP is to help teams improve traceability and visibility across the SAP delivery lifecycle while continuing to work within Jira.
I'd love to hear what approaches have worked well for your teams and where you still see room for improvement.
