How to download a snapshot of your Jira Cloud Backup file

Jira is the world's leading software tool—not just a saying, but a fact. However, going through life knowing that, one day, if something goes wrong, all your hard work could be lost in an instant is daunting. Living with the risk that a single button—whether triggered by a malicious employee or an accident—could erase everything is, to say the least, frustrating.

As an administrator, this adds a heavy burden to your daily routine, never knowing what might happen next. But fear not—there’s a silver lining. Many articles within this community offer solutions, guiding you through backup processes using the REST API or Jira automation. You can set up routine backups of your Jira Cloud environment. The former requires that you learn a programming language and logical processes which are time-consuming and the latter uses your monthly execution rules and if you’re not on premium, well let’s just say you won’t get any backup if your rules are exhausted.

However, that alone may not be enough. Our app provides a snapshot of your files exactly when you need it. That’s where we come in—one that automatically creates Jira Cloud backups for you, offering snapshots you can revisit and download at your convenience, all with a 14-day retention period. Not only that we can provide you with a copy of any project within your Jira environment simply by using JQL. You don't have to worry about any project being deleted, you will always have a copy of your project retained by you.

Step 1

  • Navigate to the Backup Projects for Jira on your Jira instance and Click to login
  • Configure your backup to your requirement

Step 2

  • Navigate to the “Backup catalogue” page using the left menu bar to view the collection of saved backed-up data be it Jira Cloud backup or project backed-up files.
  • The catalogue shows a list of the saved backed-up data. You can easily download the files by clicking the “Attachment” column.
