When faced with unformatted pages, a limited colour palette, and a big blue Confluence logo in the corner at all times, making your site truly your own can seem daunting at first. But don't worry – it's not just possible, it's actually easier than you might think!
Whether you want to make your HR space look more professional or add a touch of flair to your onboarding pages, with the right tools, you can create content that aligns with your brand.
Here's our guide for top-to-bottom Confluence branding that'll impress customers and colleagues alike.
Adding your company's touch to the top navigation will instantly make your Confluence site look more professional. Not only can you swap the Confluence logo with your own, but you can also choose a colour scheme.
Note: To change the navigation, you’ll need to be a Confluence admin.
From here, you can upload your logo and edit the navigation colours.
Now you've customised your navigation, why not add a professional touch to your spaces too?
You can auto-assign the same logo for every space, or you can do it on a space-by-space basis. Here's how to do both:
Note: To do this, you’ll need to be a Confluence admin.
Note: To do this, you’ll need to be an admin of that Confluence space.
While it's possible to change the colour of text, table cells, and some macros like Panels, Confluence gives you just a handful of colours to choose from. This can make matching pages to your palette a challenge.
Luckily, a third-party app can give you the customisation you need. This guide will use Mosaic for Confluence as an example to show you how to create content that reflects your brand.
You can add any of Mosaic's macros to your page by using the / shortcut followed by the macro name, then customise them to fit your brand in the macro editor.
Buttons
If you're tired of plain links, stylised buttons make your content more interactive and engaging. You can even include an icon (browse Atlassian, Material Design, and FontAwesome icon libraries) for an extra touch of personality or context.
Using five Buttons and a Button Group macro to align them all horizontally, we created a navbar-style button section that's clean and easy to read.
Backgrounds
Want to create a section that highlights content or draws user attention? The Background macro does just that. Choose a background colour or image, and embed text, images, and even other macros.
Background macros can also be useful for making text a custom colour on your page. No more being limited by Confluence's restrained palette.
Advanced Cards
Highlight important information and make sections of content visually appealing. You can arrange up to five cards in a row, display them with or without imagery, and change the colours to reflect your brand.
Tabs
Tabs help break up large chunks of text into clearly labelled sections, which is ideal for encouraging user engagement on articles, onboarding guides, FAQs, and more.
Combine Tabs with Advanced Expands (also included in Mosaic!) for the ultimate space-saving solution. This solution not only flies your brand colours, but also looks sleek and professional.
Want to make custom branding even easier for your teams? Mosaic Advanced includes Brand Kits, which let you predefine custom colours, images, and icons for your brand.
Defining these presets means anyone can instantly access the right brand elements when creating their own pages – no more hunting for hex codes or asking for images.
To set up your first Brand Kit:
Then, it's as easy as selecting a preset image, icon, or brand colour from the Mosaic macro editor.
