How a Non-Profit Manages a Complex STEM Content Pipeline in Trello with Planyway

Hi everyone,

We wanted to share an inspiring story from one of our users that showcases how a powerful Trello Power-Up can make a huge difference, especially for organizations with a critical mission.

Meet the Taiwan Online Learning Development Association (LIS), a non-profit dedicated to creating free, high-quality digital teaching materials for STEM subjects in Taiwan. Their goal is massive: to tackle the lack of student interest in STEM and bridge the urban-rural gap in educational resources.

The Challenge: A Complex Content Pipeline

As you can imagine, creating a steady stream of high-quality educational content involves many moving parts. The LIS team needed a way to manage their entire content pipeline—from brainstorming and scripting to production and distribution—without getting lost in the complexity. They were already using Trello to manage their tasks, but they needed a more powerful way to visualize their roadmap and manage their team's capacity.

The Solution: Enhancing Trello with Planyway

Instead of migrating to a different tool, LIS supercharged their existing Trello boards with the Planyway Power-Up. Here’s exactly how they use it to achieve their mission:

1. To Visualize Their Complex Content Pipeline
The biggest win for LIS was gaining a high-level, visual overview of all their projects. Using Planyway’s timeline view, they can map out their entire content creation schedule. This allows them to see how different projects overlap, manage dependencies between tasks, and ensure they meet their deadlines for getting materials to teachers and students. No more guessing what's next; it's all laid out clearly.

2. For Seamless Integration with Trello
The beauty of this solution is that it works right inside the tool they already know and love. Planyway integrates directly with their Trello boards, turning their cards into scheduled tasks on a timeline and calendar. This seamless integration means there was no steep learning curve for the team, and they didn't have to disrupt their existing workflows. It simply enhanced what Trello could do.

3. To Manage Their Team's Workload
As a non-profit, managing team resources effectively is crucial. With Planyway's workload management features, LIS can see how tasks are distributed across the team. This ensures that no single person is overloaded, preventing burnout and keeping the entire team productive and motivated. They can easily reassign tasks based on capacity, all while looking at the project timeline.

By combining the flexibility of Trello with the powerful planning and visualization capabilities of Planyway, LIS has been able to streamline its operations and focus on what truly matters: creating change for thousands of students across Taiwan.

We are so proud to support their work!

Does anyone else here use Trello Power-Ups to manage content pipelines or non-profit operations? Would love to hear about your setups and what works for you!
