5 Ways to Make Your Confluence Company Hub More Engaging đź’«

Tired of important news getting lost in endless email threads? A well-designed company hub in Confluence can be your team’s one-stop shop for updates, resources, and a little company spirit.

Confluence’s company hub feature comes with several built-in macros you can customise, including a Carousel for announcements and Cards for employee shout-outs, resources, and quick links. These may be all you need, but there are plenty of ways to build on them, using both native features and third-party marketplace apps, like Mosaic.

Here are five ways to make your hub more engaging and user-friendly, featuring both Confluence’s built-in macros and a few power-ups if you want to take things further.

1. Create a clear structure with sections 🗂️

Dividers are native to Confluence and are a great way to clarify structure by drawing a line between different sections, allowing your team to find the relevant content in each section easily without losing sight of the context.

Another way to break up your company hub is by using colour to highlight different sections.

A Background macro from a third-party app, such as Mosaic, can be used to highlight sections in a more professional and eye-catching way.

2. Showcase your company values or mission 🎯

Remind everyone what your company stands for by featuring your mission statement, core values, or diversity and inclusion initiatives.

This section can be visually appealing, with images, quotes, or even a short video introduction from leadership.

3. Introduce departments and teams 🙋🏻‍♀️🙋🏾🙋🏼‍♂️

Companies thrive when everyone knows who to contact and what each team is responsible for. Make it easy for everyone to find this information by including it in your company hub.

You can use Confluence’s built-in Table of Contents macro or page links to help readers find the team they’re looking for without scrolling through ones they don’t need. Alternatively, you could use a third-party macro (such as the Tabs macro included in Mosaic) to make navigation even simpler.

4. Add an FAQs section đź’ˇ

Team members engaging with your company hub might appreciate an FAQs section for any questions they may have about the company, policies, and more. Why not make your company hub a central resource for answers?

The native Expand macro in Confluence is perfect for this, letting you create collapsible sections that keep the page tidy. If you're looking for more customisation, third-party alternatives like the Advanced Expand macro (included in Mosaic) give you access to extra formatting options. You can also embed Advanced Expands within Tabs and tables for ultra-organisation.

5. Keep It Fresh and Collaborative ✍️

A hub is only as good as its latest update. Assign someone (or a small team) to keep content current and invite feedback. Set permissions so key stakeholders can easily edit and contribute, but everyone can view and benefit from the hub.

Whether you stick with the basics or go all-in with add-ons, the key is making your hub a place people actually want to visit. Happy hub-building!
