My company has 2 instances of Jira that support different parts of the organization (one for IT and one for R&D) with their own workflows. I want to create a unified roadmap across both of those instances so I can report out to the rest of the organization. Is that possible with Advanced Planning?
Hey as far as I know, the roadmap does not support connecting multiple sites into a single unified plan. Roadmap is designed to aggregate and visualise work from multiple projects, boards, and teams—but only within a single Jira instance (site).
A possible workaround could be using some 3rd party tools, just did a quick search and here are the results:
To elaborate on @yqiao's answer. The recommeded work items sync apps help synchronizing the data into the other Jira instance (and back) so that you're able to create your unified roadmap across the organization.
I'd assume that you don't need all the work items in the other instance, but only to a certain level, e.g. Epics. So I'd configure the syncing app so that it only syncs the required data (also to not bloat the other instance).
PS: I'm part of the team behind the first recommended app, Backbone Work Sync.

Awesome, really appreciate the insight and help. I will take a look at the third party tools to see if they work.
