Trello Workspace and Atlassian

Edwin Montgomery December 7, 2022

I just started our company on Trello to manage our workflow. The roll out went so well that Sales department has created a board also. What I have noticed is that I created a private board for myself for my workflow. I added one member to view. Later, while showing another new admin the Boards and workflows. He was able to see my personal Board and workflow.

I am not hiding it but was surprised that he had permissions as an admin to all of the Boards in the Workspace. Including the board I had marked private. What am I missing? As an Atlassian admin do you have super powers over all boards and privacy. Please Help!

This is important as I add more members and create permissions as I segment the Workspace into multiple Boards.

Hi Edwin,

Great question. Suppose your private board exists under a Standard/Premium Workspace or Enterprise Workspace. In that case, the Workspace admins can see the associated private boards to manage the organization's data and assist with permission changes or permission issues across the Workspace.

This link may help:

When a board is private, only those users added as members to the board can view or edit it. Private boards which are a part of Workspaces are visible only to added members unless they are part of a Standard or Premium Workspace or Trello Enterprise—then, they are also visible to Workspace admins and Enterprise admins.
