Is there a way to add your card status in table view.

I am wanting to sort my cards in table view with 'to start', 'WIP', 'completed' etc.

Is there any way to do this, so I can have a snapshot of all my cards (projects) in table view.

Thanks,

Hi @Steve Mitchell

For this use case, I recommend Table View by Tiny Powerups

This Power-up is Table view how Trello should have done it.  It includes all custom fields, has advanced filters, bulk update and ability to export to CSV.

I use this a lot and love it, you should give it a try...

Hi @Steve Mitchell

It's Mary from Planyway power-up for Trello

In Trello, the table view, often referred to as the "Dashboard" or "Board" view, is designed to give you an overview of cards across different lists or boards. To organize and sort your cards by status (e.g., 'To Start', 'WIP', 'Completed', etc.) in a table-like view, you can use Custom Fields and the Dashboard or Board view to achieve a similar outcome. Here's how you can set this up:

Step 1: Enable Custom Fields Power-Up

  1. Enable Custom Fields: First, you need to enable the Custom Fields Power-Up on your board. Go to your board, click on "Show Menu" on the right side, select "Power-Ups," search for "Custom Fields," and add it to your board.

Step 2: Create Custom Field for Status

  1. Create a Custom Status Field: Once the Custom Fields Power-Up is enabled, create a new custom field for status. Choose the type as "Dropdown" and add your statuses (e.g., 'To Start', 'WIP', 'Completed') as the dropdown options.

Step 3: Apply Status to Cards

  1. Apply Status to Cards: Edit each card to include its status by selecting the appropriate status from the custom field dropdown you've created.

Step 4: Use Table View or Dashboard

  1. Access Table View or Dashboard: For a table-like view, Trello offers a few options:
    • Dashboard View: This view provides a high-level overview of the board’s activity, but it may not directly display custom fields. It's more about metrics and progress visualization.
    • Board View with Lists: Utilize lists to represent different statuses (e.g., 'To Start', 'WIP', 'Completed') and move cards between them to indicate progress. This is the traditional Trello method.
    • Advanced Views: If you're looking for a more spreadsheet-like table view, Trello's Advanced Checklists (part of paid plans) or third-party Power-Ups and integrations might offer more sophisticated table views where custom fields (like status) can be displayed and sorted.

Step 5: Sort or Filter by Custom Field

  1. Sort or Filter: While the basic Trello views do not allow direct sorting by custom fields within the same list, you can use the "Filter Cards" feature to show or hide cards based on their custom field values. For true sorting capabilities, exploring third-party tools or integrations that work with Trello might be necessary.

Additional Tools and Integrations

  • Third-party Tools: Look into third-party tools and integrations like Trello's Advanced Checklists (for paid accounts) or external apps that can create more comprehensive table views with sorting capabilities based on custom fields.

By using Custom Fields in conjunction with the sorting and filtering options available in Trello, you can effectively manage and view your projects' statuses in a table-like format, although it might not be as straightforward as a traditional spreadsheet. For more detailed, spreadsheet-like functionalities, exploring third-party integrations with Trello might be necessary.
