Why do I need to have a team in order to invite people to my Trello board?

Usually, I didn't have to have a team in order to invite people to my Trello board, it was always optional. Now however, it's like in order to invite people you need to have a team; my group and team doesn't really like using teams therefore, this makes it difficult.

Hi there,

Trello is moving to a model where you can think of Teams as “workspaces” and all boards will eventually be in a Workspace—be that a business workspace, a home workspace, a bookclub workspace, etc. There are a lot of small changes we need to make (and some big ones) to get there but you can imagine the end state as all boards are in a workspace (and a workspace is essentially what we call a Team today).

One of these changes is that you will be prompted to put your board into a Team if you are collaborating with other people. Your existing boards are treated a little differently, but newly created boards moving forward will need to be part of a team in order to add collaborators to it.

The best solution is to create a team for those boards, and then you can associate the boards together on that team, which also helps keep everything together in one place.

Thanks,
Ryan
