User-specific filters

We've recently been seeing some strange behaviour on our boards: when someone activates filtering, those filters are visible to the whole team. I.e. I would open the board and suddenly only see cards assigned to a team mate because they activated this filter for themselves.

I'm fairly certain that wasn't always the case - one colleague, who's a long-time Trello user even didn't want to believe me until I showed it to him - and can only think of very few cases where this is actually helpful. On the other hand, I couldn't find anything related to this behaviour in the settings and doubt that it's a bug - something of this magnitude would very likely been found and complained about before.
