Hello,
I'm an independent contractor. Can Trello be used to collaborate with my clients? I work many 3rd parties to plan events. I'm looking for a system to streamline my communications, tasks, budgets and to do lists with them. Multiple emails back and forth is not the best way to stay organized :)
Open to any feedback. Thanks!
Cheers,
Kevin
Hi @Kevin Mardorf and welcome to Community!
Absolutely, Trello is a great tool to do work with clients. You can set up a board and invite your clients/3rd parties to plan the events (communications, tasks, to-do lists). I'm not sure the best way to track budgets in the tool though, hopefully someone else can weigh in.
One thing I can recommend is that you ask your clients to "watch the board" if you want them notified of everything. If not, then have them "watch the card" that you are collaborating on, and if you need to make sure they see something, @ mention their name. (Let me know if you need me to elaborate more on how to do any of this)
The simplest way is to set up the board with 3 columns - To Do, In Progress, Done. But if you already have a more complicated workflow (maybe with a client approval step), you can just add that as a column.
Be sure to use the "About Board" section to write some ground rules for how you will use the board: https://blog.trello.com/about-this-board-feature
Hope this helps!

Thanks Carolyn! I will check that out.
Could you comment on how well (or not) trello intergrates with Microsoft Teams? I'm using this communications tool with my other team member. Thanks!
Cheers,
Kevin

You're welcome, @Kevin Mardorf ! Looks like you can get a Trello tab and/or a Trello Connector: https://help.trello.com/article/1086-the-trello-app-for-microsoft-teams

Hi @Kevin Mardorf ,
Thanks for reaching out! Toni here to help!
In addition If you want to take account of budgets linked to each card and give a good looking Dashboard to your clients as an added value I would invite you to take a look on Crmble Power-Up!

You can check Hipporello for this purpose too. It enables your clients to open Trello cards via forms or emails. After that, they can track the status of their request and further communicate with you over the service desk portal that Hipporello provides. AT the same time you can contact them directly from Trello card. Whenever you submitted a new reply an automatic email will be sent to your clients. Hipporello provides advanced automation so you can send automatic messages to your client when they submit their request or you archived the Trello card opened for their request.
Please check our website for the details:
