Trello Support - Manage User permissions and visibility

Flavien CIOTOLA February 5, 2018

Hi,

I want to limit visibility on a board of multiple team. The goal is to have a general board and don't use card because it's less user friendly.

First idea is peoples can see only affected tickets.
Second idea is to manage 2 or 3 team on a board and visibility only on joinned team(s)
Third idea is to manage visibility on label
Fourth idea is to create 2 or 3 boards and have a synchronisation on a general

Thank you for your help
Kind regards

Hi Flavien,

I'm sorry to report that Trello doesn't support any of this sort of access control, by design. The intention is that if you need multiple permission levels, you'll create separate boards for those levels.

When anyone is a member of a board, they'll have full access to view anything on that board, which is also intentional. Because Trello is built on the idea of a shared perspective, you can know that any member of the board is seeing the board in the same context and in the same way as everyone else.

Trello doesn't have a built-in way to sync content between boards, as there isn't a great way of maintaining the list context on multiple boards, but, you can add a link to the original card on the new card so that you can refer back to it easily. When you attach a link to a Trello card on another card, it will display a preview of that card, and will show which board and list it belongs to. You can also click on the "Connect cards" link to make it a 2-way link, so that both cards link to each other.

Additionally, there are a few third-party Power-Ups that can help you keep cards in sync. You can read more about those here:
