I am getting my whole home extended + renovated and I am considering using Trello for project management, rather than some spreadsheets.
I am struggling to figure out how to best use the cards and board.
I have to manage external services (architect, building regulations, utilities, etc), builders, and many decoration details.
My current attempts in Trello create too many lists. Or a list is too huge with each card having too many details. What is the best way to build a nice hierarchy for such a large project?
I'd also recommend using multiple boards so that you don't feel you have to cram everything into one. It's easy to open boards just as you need them, to open up different boards in multiple browser tabs, and you when can easily create either cards or entire lists in one board and then use the move function to move it to the board and column you wish.
@adacquay there's no real natural hierarchy in Trello, but a few options are to create boards linked to cards in order to enable complicated subtasking:

There's also the Hello Epics power up that does something similar. You might also find that you can fit everything onto one board by using labels and filtering:
