We had an employee who left, so we deactivated his account and removed him from all the boards. Time has gone by and he's been re-hired. When I try to add him to the Trello boards, I get an error saying he's been deactivated. When I try to re-activate him, I get an error saying he's not a member (or former member) of the boards.
How to I get him set up again?
Another possibility is that this user's Atlassian account was deactivated beyond just his Trello account. If that's the case, you won't be able to reactivate him in Trello until his Atlassian account is reactivated by an admin for the Atlassian organization: https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/deactivate-a-managed-account/#Reactivate-accounts
It may be because you have the Enterprise subscription and that user is now a "Free Managed User" associated with your org. You may be able to grant him an Enterprise license from your admin dashboard https://support.atlassian.com/trello/docs/managing-licensed-members-on-the-enterprise-admin-dashboard/
