I am looking for a way to limit what a member of a Board sees when they are invited as a member.
We only want them to see a specific list or cards that they are part of.
the objective being to have one overarching Board with each list related to a different aspects. We do not want board members seeing other lists in a specific board.

Great question. I don't believe there is a function to add members to different lists or cards but not give them access to the board.
Depending on how private the information is you could do the following -
Add members to the board but assign them to the specific cards that they will need attention/notifications on.
If the information is confidential and you don't want other members to see what is on the board, unfortunately, I think the most effective move for this would be to create separate boards for different teams and processes. Then you can give them access to the boards separately and they won't be able to see your entire workspace.
