I have a business with four subsidiaries. I have a Trello Board at parent level, and I want to link the Boards or cards of each of the four subsidiaries to my parent so I can keep a view of the activities at subsidiary level. Does anyone know how to do this please?

Thanks in advance!

@Dr David Best to clarify, are you looking to create a master view of cards across multiple boards? And would it just be for view-only purposes? If so, there are a few options:

1. Use workspace views to create consolidated views (only available on Premium).

2. Create a "master dashboard" board and use dashcards to create a report of all cards across multiple boards. You can create one dashcard which shows all cards, or many dashcards if you want to filter the results. The below is an example of it been used as a team dashboard, but you can customise it for your use-case. Perhaps you would have a list for each of your subsidiaries.

The coloured cards are the dashcards and clicking into them will show you a list of the cards which allows you to sort, pivot etc.

3. Use a 2-way sync option like Unito. This is a great option if you want to create a board that automatically mirrors cards from multiple boards into one master board. The value here is you can update cards in your master board, and the changes are automatically reflected on the original card, allowing you to work fully from one board. This is a paid power-up, but could potentially be worth it of you're spending a lot of time switching between boards.

Hi @Dr David Best

To link the Trello boards or cards of your four subsidiaries to your parent Trello board, you can use a combination of Trello's built-in features and third-party power-ups. Here are the steps to achieve this:

1. Using Trello's Built-In Features

a. Linking Cards:

  1. Create a Card in the Parent Board:

    • Go to your parent board and create a new card that represents the subsidiary.
  2. Attach Cards from Subsidiary Boards:

    • Open the card you created.
    • Click on "Attach" in the card's menu.
    • Select "Trello" and then choose the board and card you want to link to. This will create a link to the subsidiary's card in the parent card.

b. Linking Boards:

  1. Create a Card in the Parent Board:

    • Similarly, create a card in the parent board for each subsidiary.
  2. Attach Boards to the Card:

    • Open the card.
    • Click on "Attach" and select "Trello".
    • Choose the subsidiary board you want to link. This will create a link to the entire board.

2. Using Third-Party Power-Ups

a. Planyway Power-Up:

The Planyway power-up lets you create an overview across multiple boards. So that you can create a separate board for each subsidiary and then manage them on a single view.

Project & Portfolio Roadmap

a. Unito Power-Up:

The Unito power-up allows you to sync cards between boards, keeping them updated automatically. Configure the sync to ensure that updates in subsidiary boards reflect on the parent board and vice versa.

b. Placker Power-Up:

Placker can help you create a high-level overview and manage multiple boards effectively. Use Placker to create a portfolio view where you can see cards and activities across multiple boards.
