I have a board on a "Migrated Personal Workspace 3" that I would like to move to my normal private Workspace. How can I do that?
I tried to use the "Change Workspace" but nothing happened.
Please help. Thank you!

Hi Jens

Thank you for reaching out to the community.

If the "Change Workspace" option isn’t working, there are a few alternative ways to move your board to your normal private Workspace.

Try these steps:

Method 1: Use "Change Workspace" Again (Ensure Permissions)

  1. Open the board you want to move.
  2. Click on Board Menu ( or Show Menu in the top right corner).
  3. Select "More" → "Settings" → "Change Workspace."
  4. Choose your private Workspace and confirm the move.

If this doesn't work:

  • Make sure you're an admin of both Workspaces.
  • Ensure your target Workspace allows adding new boards (some Workspace settings restrict this).

Method 2: Manually Copy the Board to Your Private Workspace

If the direct move isn’t working, you can create a copy of the board in your preferred Workspace:

  1. Open the board you want to move.
  2. Click on the Board Menu (top right).
  3. Select "More" → "Copy Board."
  4. In the pop-up:
    • Name the new board (or keep the same name).
    • Under "Workspace," select your private Workspace.
    • Choose whether to keep cards, checklists, and labels (enable these options if needed).
  5. Click "Create" to generate a duplicate of your board in the new Workspace.
  6. Once confirmed, you can delete the old board (if necessary).

⚠️ You will lose card comments and activity history.

  • Card descriptions, labels, checklists, and due dates will copy over.
  • Attachments remain intact.
  • Card comments, activity logs, and member assignments will NOT transfer.

Workaround to Preserve Comments:

If keeping comments is crucial, consider moving lists instead (Method 3) instead of copying the board. When you move lists/cards to a new board, all comments and activity history remain intact.

Let me know if you need help figuring out the best approach for your situation! 🚀

Method 3: Move Lists to a New Board in Your Private Workspace

If copying the entire board isn’t ideal, you can move individual lists to a new board:

  1. Create a new board in your private Workspace.
  2. On your original board, click the three dots () next to a list.
  3. Select "Move List" and choose the new board.
  4. Repeat this for all lists until everything is transferred.

Final Troubleshooting: If "Change Workspace" Still Doesn't Work

  • Refresh Trello or try using it in incognito mode.
  • Check Workspace Permissions (Some Workspaces restrict moving boards).
  • Try on a different device or browser.

• • If nothing works, contact Trello Support: https://trello.com/contact.

Thanks @Alberto Estévez for your reply

I tested all your three alternatives:

1, Got an error message "There was an error while moving the board. Please try again" and the board is not moved

2. The "Copy board" alternative is not visible for that workspace (but for my personal workspace)

3. The only board available in the list to move to is the board the list is already on

I will contact Trello Support. Thanks again for the help!

I see. Have you checked if your user has admin privileges on the workspace the board is living that you would like to move?

Cheers!
